The Severn Vale Art Trail 2025
Thornbury Art Club members exhibit their amazing artworks
Written by Andy, Hon Secretary
Every year the Art Trail gives local artists the chance to exhibit their work in various venues around the area. This year it ran from 1st to 5th May and several Thornbury Art Club Members took part. Christine and I visited them on the first day Thursday 1st May.
Our first visit was to Thornbury Museum to see Rosemary Miller and her jewellery. Rosemary is an ex member but is considering rejoining the Club.
Also in the museum were exhibits from the archaeological dig on member Pauline Wilson Smith’s land. On the wall was her painting of the dig.
Our next visit was to Pauline Darley’s house in the High Street, Pauline is now concentrating on abstract art.
Also at Pauline’s was Marjorie Roper-Marshall’s beautiful work.
We did a gentle stroll down the High Street to Christ The King, in Castle Street. The first display we saw was Diane Harrison’s work. She loves seascapes.
With Diane was Caroline Stealey with a lot of map based work.
We had a break for lunch and then headed for St Mary’s Church and Rita Dee’s delicate work.
Anne Harrison’s house was next. We were her first visitors and were greeted with tea and delicious home-made fruit cake. Anne loves painting boats.
Our next visit was to St Paul’s Church, Hackett Lane, where we saw Jackie Windeatt’s work. She does beautiful landscapes.
Unfortunately Louise Burns- Jones wasn’t there but we enjoyed her animal paintings.
Our next visit was to Tytherington Village Hall. We saw Anne McAllister’s beautiful art work.
Also there was Heather Morgan with her intricate batiks.
Unfortunately there wasn’t time to complete our visits, so I returned on my own to visit Karen Byrne the following morning. She has been experimenting with collage techniques, shown to us by Jentien Powell at January’s Club night.
