We invite you to join Thornbury Art Club, a welcoming community where individuals from diverse backgrounds come together to share their passions. Whether you have a long-standing interest in art or are completely new to it, you will find a place here.

In our weekly studio groups, the atmosphere is relaxed. We focus on our own painting while enjoying each other’s company. We learn from each other, drawing on the wealth of knowledge within our community - whether from hobby painters or professional artists running their own businesses.

By attending our Monthly Club Nights, you can learn painting skills associated with a range of mediums and styles. These are provided by invited professional artists through talks and demonstrations.

Our new Outdoor Sketching group is proving very popular. Sketching sharpens our observation skills, is meditative and social. The group meets monthly in a local spot, within 30 minutes drive of Thornbury. Car sharing is encouraged. We sketch, then head for a nearby café.

Join us and become part of a vibrant group where art and friendship flourish.

What our members are saying

Annie

Question: What’s best about art club?

I like coming because it’s social - meeting like-minded folk. If I come to a group every week I do it. Otherwise I never get around to it. It gives me structure, so I’ve got 3 hours every week for my art.

Peter

Question: What is the art club for you?

A space to do my painting - I struggle at home to set up and paint. I like the time and space but also the interaction and opportunity to share ideas.

Jackie

I like getting inspiration from other artists. It’s great to chat to other like-minded people and it spurs me on to do my painting.

Mandy

It is the only time in the week that I get to paint. Just 3 hours where I can relax and don’t feel guilty. I come to learn.

Liz

This is my artwork, not me, I’m camera shy ! I saw the Club advertised on the internet. It’s a vibrant group. It’s somewhere I can go to learn and develop.

David

It gets me painting !
