Vincent receiving the peoples choice award at The Bath Art Prize 2025
We have a treat this evening with award-winning artist Vincent Brown joining us. For the demonstration he will be producing a figurative painting using acrylics and glazes.
Vincent Michael Brown NAPA is a Bristol born and based artist, specialising in figurative paintings of people. His studio is situated in a grade II 17th century former pin factory near his home in Bitton.
His work has won many awards, and been exhibited in prestigious exhibitions throughout the world, including four times at the National Portrait Gallery, twice in the BP Portrait Award, numerous times at The Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and recently curated in a year long exhibition alongside Picasso, Warhol, Durer and others.
He has been twice a competitor on Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the year, both times having his work selected by the sitters.
During 2025 he won three more awards including the Art Critic Award at The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour at The Mall Gallery in London, and was shortlisted a second time for The British Art Prize.
Working primarily in acrylic or watercolour, he was elected a member of NAPA - National Association of Acrylic Painters 2025.
His influences are extremely vast and varied, ranging from Jan van Eyck to Hockney. For the demonstration he will be producing a figurative painting using acrylics, and glazes.
During the evening, we will break midway for free tea, coffee and biscuits. This will give us an opportunity to catch up with each other and of course say hello to our visitors. There will also be some time to chat to the artist and ask questions.
